About Squash

New Olympic sport

About 20 million people play squash or racketball regularly worldwide in over 185 countries and it will become an Olympic sport from 2028 at the games in Los Angeles. Forbes magazine claims it is the ‘healthiest sport in the world’ citing its exceptional benefits for cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, flexibility, and high calorie burn, while also considering injury risk.

Home3

Squash is a fast-paced racket sport played in a four-walled court with a small, hollow, rubber ball. Unlike most other racket sports, there is no net; the game also uses all four walls of the court. The object of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent cannot play a valid return. Racketball (also called Squash 57) is like squash, but the ball is larger (about 55mm) and bounces higher, making it easier to hit and allowing for longer rallies.

With matches lasting only 40 minutes, you can easily fit squash or racketball into your schedule, whether at lunch-time or after work.

Youth Squash Programme

We have a strong youth programme – our well-qualified coaches offer several programmes including Squash Stars, a fun junior squash initiative to engage kids aged 5-9 developed by England Squash, Mini-squash and a Beginners and Improvers programme. We also offer multi-sport holiday programmes which will keep your kids happy during school vacations. See our Youth page or call Lesley Sturgess on 07941 312 673 for more information.
